Comparando i tramonti di Pisa e Venezia
Percy B. Shelley disse a Lord Byron
"Stand on the marble bridge, cast your eye, if you are not dazzled,
on its river glowing as with fire, then follow the graceful curve of
the palaces on the Lung'Arno [...] and tell me if any thing can
surpass a sunset at Pisa."
(Férmati sul ponte di marmo, posa lo sguardo, se non sei abbagliato,
sul fiume che risplende quasi fosse infuocato, segui poi la curva
aggraziata dei palazzi sul Lungarno, [...] e dimmi se c'è niente che
possa superare un tramonto di Pisa.)
